They charge top dollar and lie about how long it takes them to perform the labor. If you're wondering, definitely find a different mechanic.

Five stars and I haven't even had any work done yet. . . . . I did, however, drive around to every smog check station in Sebastopol, and Pauline's was the only place that told me why they couldn't smog my vanagon, AND also what to expect, and what I might have to do or want to be prepared for as I try to get it smogged. That kind of proactive customer service makes me a believer, and if Wolfie does end up needing work, I know where I'm bringing him. Thanks Jennifer! You totally earned Pauline's a new customer.

So, yesterday I was driving to Sebastopol and my oil light came on...keep in mind it was a Saturday at 5pm. Literally as my oil light came on, I looked up and was driving past this establishment, I pulled in and went to the office door which was locked, and than I heard a voice...his name is John and although he was not working he immediately came to my assistance as he could tell I was worried. Without thought he checked my oil and told me it was a good thing I stopped. I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am to him!!! I will send EVERYONE I know to this business and tell everyone I know! Thank you John for being so kind, I'm eternally thankful...

We were on vacation in Bodega Bay when the oil pump in our Honda unceremoniously died. We were far from home, staying in a town with no auto service. Ugh. We made a few calls and ended up having AAA tow the car to Pauline's, crossed our fingers and hoped for the best. Pauline's totally knocked our socks off. It turned out there was a lot of work to do. They were 100% honest about what we needed, they got it done in a day, did quality work, and were incredibly helpful and downright friendly from start to finish. In an unexpected wrinkle, it turned out there were no Ubers in Bodega Bay (none!), and we had no way to go pick up our car when the work was done. We explained our predicament, and Jenn, one of the owners, actually drove the half hour to our hotel to pick us up. You don't get service like that just anywhere. If we lived near Sebastopol, Pauline's would be our new first choice for auto repair. Since we don't, we have to settle for giving them our unqualified positive review here.

Nothing but good things to say about Pauline's. Skilled & honest mechanics, exemplary customer service, & reasonable rates. It's unique to have mechanics who are transparent and don't talk down to you. Glad to support a local woman-owned auto shop.

They don’t use a jack and won’t have someone look/get under your vehicle. Apparently that’s “unprofessional”? Good mechanics aren’t afraid to get dirty. Wanted to support this shop but that’s the first time I’ve ever heard that out of all the 20+ shops I’ve been to.

Such a great place. Jen is awesome, super knowledgable, and was wonderful at reviewing the details of your inspection/car work (especially for those of us who are less car-smart than others). Amanda manages the desk and was very friendly and accommodating. I've found my new service shop - friendly and transparent!
